Marouane Chamakh has promised to give Liverpool and Arsenal a decision over his future before the end of the month.
The Morocco international striker is the subject of a big-money offer from Anfield, after the Merseyside club held extensive talks over a move at the end of the season.
Chamakh is a free agent in the summer after telling his club Bordeaux that he will not extend his contract, which runs out at the end of the current campaign.
And he is prepared to sign a pre-contract with one of the English clubs, both of whom have made talks with the striker.
Liverpool are still confident of persuading the forward to come to Merseyside, after making a massive offer for his services, with a five year deal and signing on fee that could eventually amount to £25million.
And Chamakh said: "I will not extend by Bordeaux contract, and I will know more about where I am going this weekend, when I have talked to my advisors.
"I believe that I must decide the club that I am going to, and that things must be explained quickly."
Chamakh is a long term target for Liverpool, but manager Rafa Benitez is still searching for a short term replacement for the injured Fernando Torres, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar a possible target on a loan deal from AC Milan.
Benitez has also been trying to thrash out a loan deal for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones, but his club are keen on a permanent transfer valued at £10 million.
