Liverpool have entered the race for long-term Arsenal target Marouane Chamakh , according to a report in The Times this morning.
Chamakh is out of contract at Bordeaux at the end of the season and can now sign a pre-contract agreement to move in the summer which could be a bargain buy for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.
The 25-year-old striker has been a major factor in Bordeaux's impressive form this season, scoring eight goals in 24 appearances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Liverpool have been linked with a host of strikers in recent weeks as Benitez looks to provide support for Fernando Torres .
Among the names to have been linked with a move to Anfield are Aston Villa pair Emile Heskey and John Carew and Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy.
It looks set to be a busy January transfer window at Liverpool with Andrea Dossena and Andriy Voronin heading for the exit as Benitez closes in on Argentinean winger Maxi Rodriguez.
