RSS News Readers
Available Feeds
The term 'RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed' is used to describe online content that is frequently updated by a website. Feeds are used to keep up to date with news stories, headlines and blogs but can also be used for videos as well as audio content known as 'podcasts'. Traditionally, a visitor to the LFC website would have to access all the latest content by clicking on a variety of pages but by using RSS Feeds this is done for you.
RSS Feeds are free and extremely easy to use. Once you have subscribed to a feed you will receive automatic updates of all the latest LFC content direct to your browser as soon as they have been added.
Firstly, you will need a piece of software called a newsreader. This will check fields automatically and make sure you can view the most recent content that has been added. There are many different types of news reader, the most popular of which exist already in the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Some are also available as a downloadable application. As there are many different types of news reader, it is important to choose one which will work with the operating system on your computer.
When viewing areas of the LFC website you will notice the feeds icon next to certain pages. This lets you know that feeds are available for this particular topic.
