Mike Marsh was a cultured midfielder with an eye for a pass.
He was handed his Liverpool debut by Kenny Dalglish as a substitute against Charlton Athletic but Kopites best remember him for scoring with a super header at the Anfield Road end against Auxereer in the memorable UEFA Cup comeback in November 1991.
Marsh played in the reserve team at Liverpool for four years before his big break in the 1991-1992 season, playing in midfield. He continued his good form into the following season, playing quite a few games in the right back position keeping out Rob Jones.
He scored a superb goal at Anfield in a 5-0 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield but he was controversially sold by Graeme Souness in 1993 to West Ham United along with David Burrows for Julian Dicks.
Marsh continued to have a good playing career and played for Souness again during a spell in Turkey with Galatasaray. He returned to Liverpool in July 2009 to coach the youngsters at the Academy.
