An accomplished cricketer and boxer, forward Lance Carr made 31 First Division appearances for Liverpool in the middle of the 1930s but only had one really extended run in the first-team.
His only two games of the 1933-34 season came in consecutive matches during December and he had to wait until the following September before being picked again but had only made three starts in 1934-35 when he was brought back for five of the last six games of that season, in which he scored twice.
Although Alfred Hanson started the next season on the left-wing, Carr was brought back into the team for the 3rd fixture of the following season (1935-36) and started a run of 21 appearances from 26 games.
He scored eight First Division goals for Liverpool and also played in two FA Cup ties. The highlight of his post Liverpool career was winning the Third Division South championship with Newport County in the 1938-39 season.
He played one season for Bristol Rovers after the resumption of League football after World War II, playing 42 games and scoring eight goals before going on a free transfer to Merthyr Tydfil in July 1947.
