Liverpool-born England amateur international 'Bert' Childs replaced regular right-back Ray Lambert for two consecutive first division matches in the autumn of 1953.
Albert had amazingly different experiences of League football during his only two games for the club as the first resulted in a 4-0 home win over Derby County when Louis Bimpson scored all 4 goals in the first-half whereas just seven days later Liverpool were humiliated by six goals by Charlton Athletic at the Valley.
