Liverpool are considering an offer for Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay who has struggled to make an impact with the Spanish side since moving from PSV in January 2011. The 25-year-old moved to the Spanish champions for €3million and made a number of appearances both in the league and the Champions League, even coming on as a substitute in the final against Manchester United. However, he suffered a serious knee injury and has been out of action for most of this season. In that time he has seen his chances of getting back into the side diminish thanks to the superb form of Alexis Sanchez. The Chile international has become a regular in the first team, while Christian Tello and Isaac Cuenca have also been used regularly this season by manager Pep Gaurdiola. Now Dutch website Sport1.nl has reported that they believe Liverpool will try and bid for the winger at the end of these season and will make an offer of around €12million. They are confident they can persuade Afellay to leave the Catalan side as they can offer more regular first team football. The Reds do not have a out-and-out right winger and have often played Dirk Kuyt or Jordan Henderson on the right. Afellay has experience at the very highest level having played in the Champions League on a number of occasions, while he also represented Holland at Euro 2008 and at the 2010 World Cup.
