Liverpool are set to swoop for relegated Wigan pair Callum McManaman and James McCarthy.
Just days after claiming the FA Cup against Manchester City, Wigan fell victim to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal, which condemned Roberto Martinez' side to relegation.
With Roberto Martinez expected to leave the club in the summer, Wigan fans can expect some big changes at the DW Stadium next year, with Premier League clubs sniffing around for a bargain.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in prized duo McCarthy and McManaman, as Brendan Rodgers looks to add some new fresh midfield options to his side.
The Times reports that Liverpool boss Rodgers was at the Emirates on Tuesday in order to watch the two 22 year olds in action as he considers making an offer for the duo in the summer.
Republic of Ireland International McCarthy said in February that it was nice to see his name linked with big clubs, and he would assess his future at the end of the season, perhaps waiting to see if Wigan could survive in the premier league.
"Obviously, it's good to see your name linked with big clubs, certain clubs, it's always nice but I am still a Wigan player and I will keep playing for Wigan until the end of the season," McCarthy told the Daily Mirror.
"I have been linked with clubs here and there but I will keep working hard and see what the end of the season brings."
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Tom Ince from Blackpool, but after being outpriced in that move, Rodgers will turn his attention to McMannaman in the transfer window, as he hopes he can attract players who will make a similar impact as Phillipe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge have at Anfield.
