Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is stepping up his interest in Southampton star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The former Fulham boss remains convinced he can turn Liverpool's season around and has continued to drop hints at plans to bolster his squad in the January transfer window.

Oxlade-Chamberlain appears to be Hodgson's latest transfer target with the news Liverpool scouted the 17-year-old during Southampton's recent win against Dagenham.

Touted as 'the next Theo Walcott', the teenager has attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also said to be a fan of the midfielder who has played 19 times for Southampton this season, scoring seven times.
