Blackburn Rovers have piled the pressure on Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson after claiming a 3-1 victory on Wednesday night.

The hosts bounced back from their 3-0 defeat to Sunderland in style, albeit thanks to some schoolboy errors on Liverpool's part, with Martin Olsson opening the scoring before Benjani Mwaruwari bagged himself a brace to put Rovers three in the clear.

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard led a fleeting fightback for the Merseysiders but the Reds captain then missed a penalty to end their hopes of salvaging something from the game.

The result gives Steve Kean his first victory on home soil after taking over from Sam Allardyce as manager.
