A German newspaper is reporting that Bundesliga club Hoffenheim is set to sign Netherlands winger Ryan Babel from Liverpool.
The Bild newspaper reported Tuesday that Babel was undergoing a medical test.
Bild quoted the club's main financial backer, software billionaire Dietmar Hopp, as saying that Hoffenheim was in an "emergency situation'' with the likely departure of Senegal striker Demba Ba and a long-term injury to Nigeria striker Chinedu Obasi.
He adds that "Babel was one of the preferred candidates who our manager, Ernst Tanner, was most convinced by.''
There was no immediate official confirmation from Hoffenheim.
