Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is set to offer Stephen Warnock a return to Anfield to help plug the club's leaky defence, according to The Mirror.
Dalglish is keen to bring in the former Red on loan with a view to a permanent move as he looks to solve the left-back problem that has plagued Liverpool all season.
England right-back Glen Johnson has been played out of position to accommodate the emergence of Martin Kelly.
However, the move hinges on Villa boss Gerard Houllier agreeing to do business with his former employers.
Liverpool hope to bring in the former Melwood trainee who has not been a first team regular under Houllier.
The Reds have also been linked with Warnock's Villa and England team-mates Stewart Downing and Ashley Young.
Any of the deals could be done as Houllier looks to do some business of his own with speculation surrounding an £18 million move for Sunderland striker Darren Bent.
