Brendan Rodgers is weighing up a move for crocked former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
Rodgers is keen to sign an experienced goalkeeper to provide back-up for Simon Mignolet, following Pepe Reina's departure and has identified Valdes.
Valdes, 32, is recovering from a torn cruciate ligament injury he suffered in March, which ruled him out of the World Cup, and he is not due to return until November.
However Liverpool can sign him outside the transfer window because he has been a free agent since his contract at the Nou Camp expired in June.
The Reds are keen for Valdes to recovery fully and prove his fitness before they offer him a contract.
