Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is planning a transfer swoop on Barcelona to land Brazilian defender Dani Alves.

The 31-year-old is in the final year of his contract at the Nou Camp and it is looking unlikely that he will be offered a new one by coach Luis Enrique as he has brought in the likes of Martin Montoya and Douglas.

The Brazil international is not guaranteed a first-team place and, if there has been no new offer of a contract by the time January comes around, he will be free to negotiate a move elsewhere.

Rodgers is looking to blend youth with experience at Anfield and would love to add the Barcelona man to his ranks but there will be no shortage of teams wanting him, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan all linked.
