Robert Priday was a useful winger, who played on both flanks.
Bob was born in South Africa and played on the wing for Liverpool just after the Second World War. His signing took place on a liner, arriving in Southampton from Cape Town. He made four appearances in the 1946 FA Cup competition but the nine games he was selected for when English soccer resumed its national leagues in 1946-47 were not quite enough to qualify him for a championship medal. However, the two goals he scored right at the end of that marathon season turned out to be absolutely priceless. A second-half strike earned a point at Brentford on May 17, 1947, and in the next game (the penultimate of an exhausting League season which started in August and didn't finish until the following June), he scored the 79th minute winner which saw off Arsenal. All of Liverpool's last four League fixtures that season were away from home and Bob played his part in helping the team get three wins plus that draw at Brentford and those were crucial points in the end.
