John Chadburn was a real character in the dressing room and on the pitch he was a winner.
Chadburn made his name at West Bromwich Albion who bounced back after relegation from the First Division in the 1900-1901 season, to winning the Second Division the following campaign. They went on to finish seventh in the First Division in his last season with the Baggies.
Chadburn featured for Albion as a right-back and right wing and signed for the Reds in 1903.
Chadburn made just two league appearances for Liverpool, at right-back for the opening two matches of the 1903-04 season. Both games ended in defeat and the club made numerous changes to their starting line-up as the first five matches were all lost.
Chadburn was one of four different players to wear the No. 2 shirt in the opening 10 league fixtures before a fifth, Alfred West, came into the side on November 7th, 1903, and continued to hold his place in that position for the rest of the season.
