Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri signed from Palmeiras in July 2008 and spent the next two years as deputy to Pepe Reina.

Cavalieri was the third Brazilian to sign for Liverpool after Fabio Aurelio and Lucas Leiva.

He made his competitive debut in a 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Crewe on September 23, 2008.

This was one of 10 appearances for the club before his departure to Italian side Cesena.
