Hughie McAuley was a regular in the reserve side from the 1970/71 to the 1974/75 season and played seven games in the Lancashire Senior cup for Liverpool.
He has been a coach at Liverpool since 1990 where he became reserve team boss and was then in charge of the Under-18 Academy team until he left the club in May 2009.
Hughie was in charge of the Liverpool team that won their first FA Youth Cup in 1996 when Jamie Carragher and Michael Owen sprung to prominence.
