On the 21st September 2009 the City of Liverpool held the first European Healthy Stadia Conference and LFC will host the conference dinner for delegates at Anfield.
Andrea Titterington (LFC Regeneration Director) and Mark Haig (Programme Manager, Action for Health) spoke at the conference.
LFC have embraced the healthy stadia concept from the beginning and Andrea Titterington clearly sees the impact that involvement in the European programme has had at Liverpool.
"Football clubs such as Liverpool FC have an opportunity to contribute to improving the quality of life for their local communities and wider fan base. At LFC we have taken that opportunity seriously in working with Liverpool City Council and the Anfield Breckfield communities on the realisation of the Regeneration Framework and in wide-ranging community programmes. The Healthy Stadia programme has enabled us to make positive changes in the choice of menus offered to fans and staff, health checks for non-playing employees and health information on our website and intranet. It has also inspired LFC to engage in wider community health programmes."
