Liverpool face competition from Manchester City, Everton and Southampton for Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Butland.
The Championship side have admitted they are likely to be forced to cash in on the England international and could sell him for as little as £6million.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers views the 19-year-old as a long-term successor to Pepe Reina as he looks to build a new team based on young British talent.
But he will face a fight for the teenager's signature.
Saints boss Nigel Adkins will renew his interest in Butland after he failed to land him in a £6m deal in the summer transfer window, but he is still searching for a new keeper after Artur Boruc, Kelvin Davis and Paulo Gazzaniga all failed to impress this season.
Manchester City and Everton are also both monitoring the England international's situation at St Andrews, although a new goalkeeper isn't top of either club's priority list.
