Liverpool and Manchester United have been put on red alert after Udinese defender Mauricio Isla confirmed he is set to leave the Italian club at the end of the season.
Isla has been strongly linked with a move into the Premier League with both Kenny Dalglish and Sir Alex Ferguson leading the chase to sign him.
The Chile international can operate as a wing-back and can also play across the midfield - and his versatility will appeal to both managers.
Juventus and Roma have also been tracking his progress and there seems certain to be a bidding war for his signature during the summer.
Udinese would love to keep their star defender at the club but seem reluctant to losing him and would consider offers in the region of £10m.
Isla said: "I talked to the president and he is committed to my sale in June. The most important thing is for me to recover from my injury and return to the same form I have been showing."
