German giants Bayern Munich are hoping to scupper the plans of Liverpool and Aston Villa by joining the race to sign highly-rated Ivory Coast striker Gervinho.
French newspaper L'Equipe reports that Bayern have sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old forward in action for current club Lille, who apparently value their asset at £12.9m.
Gervinho's current deal expires in the summer of 2012 but he has previously stated he would relish a move to Arsenal.
The former Le Mans hitman has bagged 11 goals this season in Ligue Un, while Lille have apparently revealed that they will not make any decision on the player's future until the end of the season.
