LIVERPOOL are considering a request from Hull City to extend Daniel Ayala's loan spell.
The 20-year-old Spanish defender has been with the Championship club since September and has impressed boss Nigel Pearson.
Ayala has made 12 appearances for the Tigers but is scheduled to return to Liverpool next month.
Pearson is hoping Reds boss Roy Hodgson will agree to let him keep hold of Ayala until the end of the season.
"We're hopeful but a lot will depend on circumstances at his own club," Pearson said.
"They may want him back but we'll try and do something to secure him.
"Daniel has done well since he has been here and we would love to extend his loan."
Ayala, who joined Liverpool from Sevilla in 2007, has made five first team appearances for the Reds and is under contract until 2012.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed the signing of teenage goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin from Millwall for an undisclosed fee.
