Alberto Aquilani's Liverpool future remains clouded in uncertainty with his agent revealing that AC Milan are yet to make an approach for the midfielder.
The Italian spent last season on loan with Turin giants Juventus, and has repeatedly stressed his desire to make a permanent return to his home country this summer.
Serie A champions Milan had been reported to be interested in the former-Roma man, who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2009, but spent just one injury-hit campaign on Merseyside before returning to Italy a year later.
But Franco Zavaglia, the 26-year-old's representative, has denied that a move to Massimo Allegri's side is in the offing, and says that Juventus' signing of Andrea Pirlo, ironically from Milan, means Aquilani is unlikely to complete a permanent switch to Stadio Olimpico di Torino.
Juventus agreed a fee of £13m for Aquilani with Liverpool last summer, but are reluctant to pay that now.
"I can say that I am not aware of any interest from AC Milan," said Zavaglia. "They are just rumours and we have had no contact with Milan. Juve have asked us for a few days to reflect and we are looking at options.
"I don't think the problem has to do with the buy-out clause but rather that they (Juventus) are looking for someone whose characteristics are more defensive.
"We will see what happens, but whatever happens, Alberto is not left in the middle of the road as he still has three years left of his contract with Liverpool."
Aquilani, right, made 28 appearances for Liverpool, scoring two goals.
The Echo recently revealed that 5% of any future transfer fee will be owed to Roma, and that his former club is owed £4.4m the final instalment of his £17.6m transfer fee, by the end of this month.
