Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers made a personal check on Bayer Leverkusen wunderkind Julian Brandt on Friday night.
Rodgers saw the teenage attacking midfielder, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea, score for Anfield hero Sami Hyypia's side against Hamburg.
The Reds' manager took time off from the title chase, which continues with a Sunday visit to West Ham, to watch Brandt who joined Leverkusen from Nuremburg despite interest from English clubs because he wanted to play right away.
Now, Rodgers is firmly in the hunt for Brandt - who could move on this summer - as he tries to strengthen his squad for Liverpool's long-awaited return to the Champions League.
