Liverpool are ready to test Cardiff City's resolve by making a £6million offer for goalkeeper David Marshall if the club get relegated from the Premier League this season.
Marshall has established himself as one of the best goalies around after a string of impressive performances for the Bluebirds this season.
And even though his sparkling form has not been enough to keep the club away from the drop zone, he has attracted interest from across the division, with Liverpool especially keen.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to add competition for Simon Mignolet next term, and is thought to be plotting a £6million offer to lure Marshall to Merseyside if Cardiff end up slipping out of the top flight this term.
The Welsh side are currently battling for their lives at the bottom, but do look increasingly likely to be returning to the Championship immediately.
A graduate of Celtic's academy setup, Marshall has long been regarded as a talented glovesman who is noted for his excellent reflexes and decision making.
