Liverpool could solve their left-back problem with a bid for Dynamo Kiev's Brazilian defender Gerson Magrao.
Paul Konchesky has joined Leicester, while Emiliano Insua looks set to leave the club after failing to settle on Merseyside, and Kenny Dalglish needs to find a naturally left-sided defender to fill the position.
The only stumbling block would be the acquisition of a work permit for the former Cruzeiro man, who is yet to represent his country.
The 26-year-old is valued at around £5million.
