Liverpool are keen to secure the services of Norwegian prospect Marcus Pedersen.
The 20-year-old striker, who currently plys his trade at Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem, is being closely monitored by the Anfield hierarchy ever since having trials at the club five years ago.
He is in his first season at the Dutch club, having signed from Norwegian outfit Strømsgodset last summer in a deal worth £1.2 million. However, despite signing on a four-year deal, the Under-21 hitman is keen on a move to the Premier League.
"I think I have taken the right step in my career: Norway, then Holland and eventually England," said Pedersen, when asked about a future move to the north-west.
Pedersen has scored four in twelve appearances during his debut season in Holland, but it was his form in Norway which alerted a number of European clubs.
According to various reports, Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion have joined Liverpool in registering their interest in the player dubbed 'Norway's answer to Wayne Rooney'.
Norwegian daily publication Dagbladet have reported on numerous occasions over the past twelve months, that Liverpool scouts had been in attendance to monitor Pedersen.
Any move would hinge on the judgement of Liverpool's director of football strategy Damien Comolli, who in recent months has helped identify key talent for boss Kenny Dalglish.
