WRITES JOHN ALDRIDGE
I get really angry when I see goals taken off players and listed as 'own goals', especially after Steven Gerrard's goal for Liverpool against Brighton.
Everyone was getting excited on Sunday about Brighton scoring three own goals in a match - but they didn't.
Steven Gerrard's shot was going in anyway, Liam Bridcutt certainly didn't want to be credited with another OG, so why take it away from the LFC skipper?
If it's a blatant own goal, like the other two in the game, fair enough - but not when a shot is going in anyway.
Players work really hard for goals and to have one taken away is unfair.
The person who decided Stevie's shot was an own goal should be sacked.
I hope the dubious goals panel have a look at it and give the credit where it's properly due - which is to Steven Gerrard.
