Liverpool are plotting a move for St.Etienne's France International winger Dimitri Payet who looks likely to leave the French club this Summer following a breakdown in contract talks.
Liverpool Director of Football Damien Comolli is an admirer of the £7m-rated winger and plans on striking a deal to bring him to Anfield, despite an agreement with St.Etienne that he would not move for any of their players.
However Kenny Dalglish is looking to add creativity to his Liverpool side and believes Payet could provide sufficient ammunition to new strike duo Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. The Anfield boss has been linked with a number of wingers in recent weeks as the Scot looks to bring in natural width to his attack.
Currently the likes of Dirk Kuyt and Maxi have been played out wide and whilst the Dutch international shows great determination and is a fan favourite, Argentine Rodriguez has failed to make an impact and Payet may be seen as a more effective left sided option.
Payet has been in impressive form in Ligue 1 this season, notching up 12 goals and multiple assists which has resulted in a breakthrough to Laurent Blanc's France team and his form hasn't gone un-noticed, with the likes of Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli also linked with moves for his signature.
Champions League hopefuls PSG have already contacted St.Etienne regarding Payet, however Liverpool are confident they can persuade him to move to England, and hope to take advantage of Damien Comolli's contacts with St.Etienne to push through a deal.
