Liverpool check on Texeira

Liverpool are showing interest in FC Groningen striker David Texeira, the Uruguay forward, 20, who has taken a similar path to compatriot Luis Suarez.

He moved to Groningen, Suarez's first club in Europe, last August, but seven goals in 12 league games have caught the eye.

Texeira was also born in Salto, the same area as Suarez and Napoli's Edinson Cavani.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also giving a two-week trial to Swedish teenager Abdul Aziz, who has been dubbed the 'baby Didier Drogba'.
