Roy Hodgson's English recruitment drive at Liverpool will continue with an £8million move for Manchester City's Wayne Bridge.
Hodgson has already snapped up Chelsea's Joe Cole on a free transfer and also persuaded Steven Gerrard to stay at Anfield. But he wants to add another Englishman to his stable in left-back Bridge, whose place at City is under threat with the imminent recruitment of £17m Serb Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio.
Bridge, 29, joined City last January from Chelsea for £10m and his time at Eastlands has been regarded as a success.
Hodgson has also been linked with a move for Paul Konchesky, at his former club Fulham, as a fall-back if the bid for Bridge fails.
