The Daily Mirror is reporting that West Ham are leading the race ahead of Liverpool for the signing of Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies.
It has been reported in recent days that Martin O'Neill is looking to offload the 25 year old after Villa owner Randy Lerner made it clear to him he will have to sell players before he buys.
The prospect of the sale raised interest from both Liverpool and Spurs with Rafa Benitez looking to strengthen his defensive options. Davies himself started off last season as first choice but a recurring shoulder injury kept him out of action for a large part of the campaign and he has been unable to regain his place in the first team.
West Ham have now entered the race for the centre back and according to the Daily Mirror, Davies is anxious to get regular first team football and with his family also living in Chigwell, he may opt for the Hammers over moves to the Reds or Spurs.
