Sam Allardyce will personally fly to Germany on Saturday to scout Nurnberg striker Josip Drmic, reports the Daily Mail.
Emerging as one of the brightest talents in Germany, Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the Swiss international this season.
The 21-year-old has been in sensational form for the Bundesliga club this season and has drawn interest from the Premier League as a result.
Drmic has scored 16 goals in 28 games this season and currently only trails top scorers Robert Lewandowski and Mario Mandzukic by a single goal.
Now Allardyce is set to join the race for his signature and will personally attend Nurnberg's game to see if he can fit into the unique Hammers system.
Struggling by with an injured Andy Carroll, Allardyce is keen to add more firepower to his frontline.
Drmic is currently valued at around £8m but reportedly has a clause in his contract thatallows him to leave for £4.5m.
West Ham face a fight to sign him, however, as it has been claimed by Sky Germany correspondent and Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus that the player will sign for Arsenal.
He said in Bild: "You will see Drmic will go to Arsenal for 8 million - I was right before and I'll be right again."
Liverpool are also interested in the striker but Drmic faces playing second fiddle to Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez if he moves to Anfield.
