Liverpool continue to close in on the signing of former Barcelona stopper despite the transfer window having closed.
Valdes has his contract with the Catalan club terminated by mutual consent over the summer meaning he could still make a move to Anfield.
The Spanish stopper had looked almost certain to join Monaco earlier in the window only for the deal to fall through over concerns about the player's fitness.
Valdes suffered a cruciate ligament injury at the end of last season but is slowly closing in on a return to fitness.
And reports in Spain suggest Liverpool continued to hold talks with the 32-year-old over a move to England yesterday.
Indeed, it is suggested that a move has been agreed in principal and could be confirmed in the coming days.
The Reds saw Pepe Reina depart for Bayern Munich last month and are thought to want Valdes to put greater pressure on current number one Simon Mignolet.
It now remains to be seen whether Liverpool demand that Valdes demonstrates his fitness before finalising a move.
