Liverpool are edging closer to a move for Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho.
The Reds were unsuccessful with their initial bid (£5m), however they have since tabled an £8m offer which they believe will be enough to secure a deal.
Liverpool has had their eye on Coutinho for a while, and they feel he could add an extra dimension to their play as he is technically gifted and he has a good turn of pace.
The Reds were disappointed to miss out on Wesley Sneijder, who opted to join Galatasaray, after his relationship with former employers Inter Milan broke down.
And Coutinho could become Liverpool's second signing of the transfer window after already buying Daniel Sturridge, who has hit the ground running with three goals in his first three games for his new club.
According to the Liverpool Echo, manager Brendan Rodgers still wants to add two new faces before the transfer window shuts.
They also mention that Coutinho's potential arrival won't put pay to their hopes of trying to land Blackpool's Tom Ince, but they will only do a deal if the price is right.
Coutinho has netted twice for Inter in 15 appearances this season.
