Express: Liverpool in driving seat for Eto'o

Samuel Eto'o has given Liverpool a major lift by rejecting the chance to join Ajax.

Express Sport understands the Reds are still interested in the ex-Chelsea striker as they want to provide competition for Daniel Sturridge.

Moreover, they are thought to have held talks with Mario Balotelli over a £16million move to Anfield.

Reports suggest that Eto'o rejected the chance to join the reigning Eredivisie champions after the deadline for an agreement passed.

The deadline was set at 6pm last night but Eto'o has snubbed the Dutch giants.
