ASTON VILLA boss Paul Lambert has insisted that Christian Benteke will not be sold to Tottenham, Liverpool or Arsenal this summer despite owner Randy Lerner wanting any new signings to be offset by player sales.
Benteke will miss the World Cup after suffering a torn Achilles in Villa training in April and it was initially feared that he could be out until Christmas.
And while that prognosis could deter possible suitors this summer, the Belgian striker has recently expressed optimism that he will return quicker than expected.
That could see all three of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham revive their interest from last summer, aware of Villa's precarious financial situation.
But Lambert insists that despite a cap on spending at the club, he will fight to keep his star players.
He said: "Everything is open because the club is for sale but I'll still have the final say with who comes and goes.
"I don't visualise anyone leaving without my permission."
It now remains to be seen whether Lambert is true to his word or whether Lerner forces the issue should Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham come calling for Benteke before the summer is over.
