Pepe Reina hailed Liverpool FC's 3-0 thrashing of Wigan Athletic as a significant step towards transforming their "ridiculous" home record.
The Spanish keeper enjoyed a triumphant return to action after six weeks out with a hamstring injury as Brendan Rodgers' side were indebted to a clinical second-half double from Luis Suarez and Jose Enrique's first goal for the club.
Victory extended the Reds' unbeaten league run to seven matches and lifted them to 11th in the Premier League.
It was only their second home league win of the campaign and just the fourth at Anfield in 2012.
Reina believes that record will improve drastically over the coming months if they can replicate their second-half performance against the Latics.
"We are happy with the win and we needed that at home," said Reina.
"It was a great second half from us. In the first half we didn't create enough chances, but in the second half we kept the ball better and by moving it at a higher tempo we found the spaces.
"We got stronger in the middle and by pressing high we regained the ball for the first goal. That was the key as it opened the game up and we played better from that point on.
"This is a step forward for us in terms of the home form. We haven't had two wins in a row at Anfield since September last year which is ridiculous for Liverpool.
"It's always a pleasure to play at Anfield. We are glad that the supporters have been so patient.
"We haven't been as good at home as we want to be but the supporters have always stayed right behind us.
"Now we need to show that we are able to keep this momentum going. We need to make sure we get three points at Swansea next weekend and build from there."
Suarez extended his stunning run of form as he netted for the fourth successive league game and now boasts 13 goals in all competitions this season.
Juventus have become the latest club to be linked with a move for the Uruguayan in January but Reina is content in the knowledge that the striker is fully committed to the Reds.
"Luis is on fire at the moment," said Reina."He looks like scoring in every game and is very important for us.
"There isn't another player in the Premier League in better form than Luis right now. He's a top class, world class striker and the good thing for us is that he's a Liverpool striker.
"It's only normal that he will attract interest from many clubs. But Luis has said he is happy at Liverpool and that is the most important thing for us and for the supporters."
Reina was back in action on Saturday after the longest absence of his Liverpool career.
Brad Jones had played the previous seven matches while Reina was sidelined with a hamstring problem.
"It was nice to be back in the team," he said."It was the longest I've gone without playing since the days when I was sat on the bench at Barcelona.
"While I was out, Brad was excellent. He was very composed and was playing very well - I was happy for him."Now I have no problems with the injury. I have something to prove every day but to myself more than anyone else.
"I want to achieve my best and give my best to the team. I will always try to encourage myself to be a better keeper."
