Jonjo Shelvey hailed the performance of Joe Cole as the pair both netted against Young Boys.
Shelvey got on the end of Cole's chip to head home his fourth Europa League goal of the season, before the former England man notched Liverpool's second in the 2-2 draw.
"Joe has had a tough time since he's been at the club but he did really well tonight," said Shelvey.
"He deserved his goal. He works hard day in, day out, and is a credit to himself.
"I thought we deserved more than what we got from the game.
"I was happy with my goal but as a team we let it slip because we could have qualified tonight.
"The boss will get us up for the game in Udinese. That will be a tough place to go and get three points but I'm sure we can do it."
Shelvey was added to play as a striker by Rodgers prior to Luis Suarez's introduction and he enjoyed the 'false No 9' role favoured by the Spanish national team.
"It was unfamiliar for me but it was good," he said.
" I'd play at left-back if it meant getting a game for Liverpool Football Club."
