Liverpool's Joe Cole looks increasingly likely to be leaving Anfield this summer, with Paris St Germain interested in usurping Spurs as the leading contenders to sign the midfielder on a free transfer.
Cole has told friends that he would be open to a move abroad if he could not secure a spot with a Barclays Premier League club.
However, his first-choice option could still come to fruition.
A Spurs insider has said the north London club are preparing a 'very lucrative' offer that could see him tempted into a return to the capital.
Liverpool are also open to the move, as it would see Cole's salary removed from the wage bill.
French club PSG, now backed by the Qatar Investment Authority, have been linked to a number of players this summer, with Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov rumoured to be at the top of their shopping list.
However, there is still the chance that Cole will stay in England, as Harry Redknapp is interested in bringing the 29-year-old to White Hart Lane.
But first the Spurs boss must look to offload some of his squad before dipping into the transfer market.
Barclays Premier League new boys QPR are also rumoured to be following the progress of Cole and may be willing to make an offer.
