Liverpool are set to battle it out with AC Milan for the services of Manchester City defender Micah Richards, reports have claimed.
Richards has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium after losing his place to regular right-back Pablo Zabaleta, and Liverpool are keen to take him to Anfield.
The defender has just over 12 months remaining on his current contract and although there is a chance he could run it down before leaving on a free transfer, City will attempt to cash in during the summer.
Zabaleta will remain City's regular right-back next season but with Manuel Pellegrini expected to bring in even more new blood in the summer, Richards will slip even further down the pecking order.
Richards could be tempted by a move to Liverpool, while Premier League rivals Arsenal have also been linked, but AC Milan could also offer him a fresh challenge in Serie A.
