Blackpool reject Adam bid

Blackpool have rejected a €4.7 (£4 ) million bid from Liverpool for club captain Charlie Adam, according to Sky Sports.

Adam has been linked with a move away from Bloomfield Road in the January transfer window - with Aston Villa admitting their interest in the midfielder.

Villa have already had a bid of £2.5m and an improved offer of £3.5m rejected for Adam, with Seasiders manager Ian Holloway expressing his disgust at the Midlands club's valuation of his player.

"If someone offered the right amount of money that would be fair in the market value of Charlie, how do I work out what that market value is when people are paying absolutely ludicrous amounts of money for other people who I don't see as good as Charlie?" Holloway asked reporters.

"Obviously Aston Villa are a massive club but how can they rate Darren Bent at that sort of figure [£24m] then offer me that for Charlie? I think it's quite derisory."

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has been promised that he has the funds to bring in new players in January and has been linked with a move for Ajax's highly-rated striker Luis Suarez.

And it appears Adam is high on his wish-list - with reports suggesting that a bid has been rejected.

The Blackpool and Scotland international has been one of Blackpool's top performers this season, inspiring Ian Holloway's surprise package into a comfrotable mid-table position, but the former Rangers man remains unmoved by speculation linking him with a move.

"It really isn't difficult to ignore all the talk. The bottom line is that everybody knows I want to play at the highest level," he told reporters earlier in the week.

Holloway says he values Adam at the price of Premier League safety - estimated to be £46m - but it remains to be seen whether a higher bid from Liverpool or Villa will convince the Blackpool manager to sell his prize asset.
