Everton may have to fight off an unwelcome offer of £10m from Liverpool in the summer for the services of Leighton Baines.
Everton's lack of finances has seen most of their star players linked with moves away from the club at some point or another but, as David Moyes seeks assurances over his squad, a move for Baines to arch rivals Liverpool would be very hard to take.
Liverpool have struggled at left-back all season and a number of names have been touted as possible targets, with Newcastle United's Jose Enrique thought to be their preferred choice.
But it now seems they will be looking a bit closer to home and may make a move for Baines.
Moyes faces a battle to keep hold of the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Jack Rodwell in the summer and it would now appear you can add Baines to that list.
