Blackpool manager Ian Holloway insists his club will not be bullied into selling star midfielder Charlie Adam on the cheap - even though he admits it will be almost impossible to see off his leading suitors Liverpool.
Holloway has conceded that the player is likely to move this summer - probably to his long-term admirers - as his club just does not have the necessary resources to compete.
"The situation will be taken out of my hands because of how well he has played," he told the Blackpool Gazette.
"Other people who have a lot more resources than I have will have seen what he can do, and it will be their choice and not mine."
Liverpool made bids of up to £10million for Adam in the January transfer window, but Blackpool refused to sell at that price.
He then came within minutes of joining Harry Redknapp at Tottenham, but the clubs could not get the paperwork completed in time and the Scotland international was left in the north-west.
However, Holloway insists that when Adam does finally leave Bloomfield Road, the deal will be right for everyone involved.
"Until his contract runs out [in June 2012] surely we should hold out for what we think is right and not be bullied by some bigger, stronger and tougher clubs," he explained.
"That's what they were trying to do in January and I didn't like it."
