Steven Gerrard has insisted the Liverpool players will have recovered from their midweek Champions League setback in time for Sunday's crunch clash at Chelsea.
The Reds are preparing for their weekend showdown at Stamford Bridge on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina on Tuesday night, but the skipper believes it will be a different Liverpool side which takes to the field in west London at the weekend.
"It was a really disappointing night," Gerrard admitted. "We are disappointed with our first half performance. We just didn't turn up and were second best all over the pitch. We deserved to go in behind.
"There was a reaction in the second half - without creating many clear cut chances - but we lost the game in the first half.
"We didn't do what we usually do in Europe. We usually play with a high tempo, pass the ball well and play really well on the counter attack.
"Those things weren't there and it was all over the pitch - from front to back.
"Now we've got a massive game at Chelsea on Sunday. We have to get this result out of our system quickly and show a reaction at Stamford Bridge."
Liverpool have slipped to third in Champions League Group E after Lyon's 4-0 demolition of Debrecen, but Gerrard insists there's still all to play for over the remaining four games.
"It's wide open in this group and there is a lot of football still to be played," Gerrard added.
"It's important now that we win our next home game against Lyon. If we win all our home games and try to pick up a couple of points in the last two away games then we will be fine."
Gerrard's sentiments were echoed by teammate Lucas Leiva, who admits Liverpool can't afford to dwell on their Italian frustration ahead of Sunday's big four showdown.
The Brazil international said: "We must learn from these mistakes and bounce back at Chelsea, we must win there before the international break to boost our confidence.
"Chelsea are in good form at the moment, certainly at home, but we know we can do it if we go there with the right attitude.
"We have the quality to get a win there, that will then improve our confidence in the next two games in the group against Lyon."
