Daniel Agger today handed Liverpool a boost after Rafael Benitez confirmed the centre-back has resumed training at Melwood.
The Dane missed the Reds' last three outings against Stoke, Tottenham and Wolves with a groin injury.
Agger is now back in training with his teammates, and while Fernando Torres, Glen Johnson, Yossi Benayoun and Fabio Aurelio remain sidelined, Benitez is confident they are making good progress in their recoveries.
"Agger is training, so that is good news," Benitez told reporters at Melwood.
"Johnson, Benayoun, Aurelio and Torres are all still injured."
Asked about Torres' recuperation from recent surgery, the boss added: "He is okay. He is happy and progressing really well. They are all progressing well."
Benitez also confirmed Steven Gerrard suffered no after effects following his return from a hamstring injury against Wolves in midweek, while Nabil El Zhar and Martin Kelly are continuing to train with no problems.
However, with the close of the January transfer window now just four days away, the gaffer revealed the Reds will still look to reinforce their ranks if possible.
He said: "We have been working and we are still working trying to find players in different positions, but it's not easy to find a good player or a player at the level of our team.
"We have to keep going until the end, and if we cannot (sign anyone else) we will have to manage.
"We are quite happy with the squad and have players coming back from injuries. To find better players than our own and ones that are available in the market is not easy.
"If we need to do something, we have sold some players, so we can manage."
Liverpool return to on the field matters against Bolton Wanderers at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last five outings in the Barclays Premier League, but were held to a goalless draw at Wolves on Tuesday evening.
"We are doing better," said Benitez. "We kept another clean sheet (against Wolves) but didn't play at the level we can.
"There were positives in that the team was stronger. We had to do more in attack if we wanted to win the game, but we were more solid in defence.
"We are improving and we will see against Bolton if we can show this."
Meanwhile, Benitez paid tribute to Trotters boss Owen Coyle.
The Scot took up the reigns at the Reebok earlier this month and brings the Lancashire club to Anfield on the back of two successive victories.
"He is trying to change things and hopefully that will be good for them after our game," said the Reds boss.
Asked how long he felt it would take Coyle to impose his own ideas on Bolton, Benitez replied: "Every manager has his own ideas. It depends on each club, on the facilities and players.
"Normally you need time, but when you are in a competition like the Premier League you don't have too much time to prepare because you have another game.
"But he is trying to do things in the right way."
