Rafael Benitez is hopeful Jamie Carragher will be fit to return to the Liverpool defence for the Reds' trip to Manchester City next weekend - but has dismissed suggestions Fernando Torres could be set for an early return to action.
Carragher limped out of the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in midweek with a groin injury, but the problem isn't serious and the boss expects his vice-captain to make a speedy comeback.
"I was talking with him this morning when he was working on the bike and he is fine," Benitez said. "
"It wasn't very serious but he could not continue [at Arsenal]. I am not sure if he will be available for Thursday against Unirea, but maybe he will have a chance against City."
Benitez also confirmed Fernando Torres continues to make good progress in his recovery from a knee injury, but he insists speculation suggesting his Spanish striker could return at Eastlands is premature.
"I think it will be too early," he added. "He is training with the physios and the fitness coach, but he's still not involved with the team.
"We will see next week how he progresses."
