Rafa Benitez has praised his medical team for helping to keep star striker Fernando Torres on the pitch.

Torres has completed four consecutive league matches following a groin problem thanks to extra hours training at Melwood.

And Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Fernando knew from the beginning that it was a question of working very hard with the physios and fitness coach. He's doing this and he's a very good professional.

"The staff have been crucial. All the medical staff have been working very hard. Specific physios have been working very hard with him and the fitness coach Eduardo Parra is working with him every single day for hours and hours. This is crucial.

"It's been a busy season for the medical team. I've been watching injuries in the other teams and there have been a lot in the Premier League because it's too demanding."
