Peplow scored 19 goals for the reserves in the 1968-69 season, but sadly he's remembered as just another forward who never made it at LFC.
Anfield apprentice and local boy Steve signed professional forms for Liverpool in January 1966. After waiting patiently in the reserves for a first-team opportunity, he played in consecutive league matches against West Ham and Leeds in November 1969. His only other first-team appearance came in the Fairs Cup against Vitoria Setubal at Anfield later that month.
Steve was loaned to Swindon in the 1970-71 season, playing 15 games and scoring six goals. He moved permanently from Liverpool in June 1971 and played a total of 45 games and scored 13 goals for Swindon before having brief spells at Nottingham Forest and Mansfield before establishing himself at Tranmere Rovers. He played 248 games and scored 44 goals for Tranmere from 1973-1981.
